Senior Portraits & Yearbook FAQ

Seniors: Welcome

What are Senior Portraits?

Senior Portraits are one of the many special moments during senior year! Instead of your underclassman photo, you will have a photo session where you have at least one formal photo and one casual photo made. These are photos that are used for celebrating MJHS seniors in the yearbook student section, in graduation invitations, in yearbook senior ads, and much more!

Each student must have at least one formal portrait made with a drape or tux (provided by Loveless) and one casual portrait made in order to be included in the senior section of their senior yearbook.

This year, seniors can begin scheduling their portraits starting on May 1 through October 4 with Loveless Fine Photography.

Loveless Fine Photography is our current photography company that makes all MJHS senior and underclassmen photography for MJHS via an appointment time. Loveless mails information to all seniors before their senior year (seniors must have been registered and enrolled with MJHS during or before February of their junior year). If you did not receive this information, please stop by B118.

Seniors must call Loveless Fine Photography to book an appointment at 615-890-1558.

Are there different types of senior portrait sessions and what do I need to be in the yearbook?

There are three types of senior portrait sessions:

Gold: Includes 3 outfits, 3 backdrops/locations, and the yearbook formal portrait. 1 hour long. Props welcome.

Silver: Includes 1 casual, 1 backdrop/location, and the yearbook formal portrait. 30 minutes long.

Platinum: 6 outfits, 6 backgrounds/locations, and the yearbook formal portrait. 2 hours long. Props welcome. (Please note that there is a minimum order amount for this level of portrait session. Contact Loveless for details).

The requirements for each senior for the yearbook are included at each level: 1 casual portrait and 1 formal (tux/drape) portrait.

Are there still sitting fees for senior portraits and are there any session discounts?

As senior portraits are a specialized and tailored photography session for each senior, there is a session "sitting" fee.

While there has always been a session fee for every previous senior class, Loveless Fine Photography has given more appointment availability than previous senior classes have received, and they have various levels of senior sessions to offer.

For a May appointment, they offer a 50% session fee discount (not including prints of photography). The Silver Session includes the formal and casual photography needed for the yearbook for $25. The Gold Session includes the formal and casual photography needed for the yearbook plus two additional casual photos for $50. At the Gold Session Level, students may bring props with them that will be included in their photos, such as pets, vehicles, sports equipment, instruments, and anything else you can think of!

For a June appointment, they offer a 25% session fee discount (not including prints of photography). The Silver Session includes the formal and casual photography needed for the yearbook for $37.50. The Gold Session includes the formal and causal photography needed for the yearbook plus two additional casual photos for $75. At the Gold Session Level, students may bring props with them to be included in their photos, such as pets, vehicles, sports equipment, instruments, and anything else you can think of!

For July, August, September and October appointments: the Silver Session includes the formal and casual photography needed for the yearbook for $50. The Gold Session includes the formal and causal photography needed for the yearbook plus two additional casual photos for $100. At the Gold Session Level, students may bring props with them to be included in their photos, such as pets, vehicles, sports equipment, instruments, and anything else you can think of!

For students who may not find the discount session months of May and June feasible due to financial circumstances, please see Mr. Judkins personally in B118.

How do I set up an appointment with the Loveless studio and where are they located?

Please go to Loveless Fine Photography's website and review their information concerning scheduling appointments.

Seniors must call Loveless Fine Photography to book an appointment at 615-890-1558.

Loveless Fine Photography is located at 305 E. Clark Blvd Murfreesboro, TN 37130.

What do I need to bring to senior portraits?

For the Silver Session, students need to bring one casual outfit and an undershirt (for the tux formal) or a tank (for the drape formal). The drape and tux outfits are provided by Loveless Fine Photography and are cleaned for each session.

For the Gold Session, students need to bring three casual outfits and an undershirt (for the tux formal) or tank (for the drape formal). The drape and tux outfits are provided by Loveless Fine Photography and are cleaned for each session. Props may also be brought if you purchase this session-level. Almost every casual photo with props can be your yearbook casual photo. Please check with Loveless or Mr. Judkins for certain prop exclusions for yearbook casuals.

Please note that some props may incur additional fees due to logistics, animal behavior, additional time needed, etc. When booking your appointment, it is best to already have in mind props you may wish to bring so that you may specifically address fees for your desired props prior to your appointment.

Are there any "add-ons" available to my senior portrait session other than what is included in my Silver or Gold Session level?

Yes! Loveless Fine Photography offers the following options as add-ons to your photography session. Make sure to inform Loveless when booking your appointment as each addition adds to the length of your appointment time.

Extra Outfits: $25 per outfit (+15 mins)

Vehicle Prop: $50 per vehicle (+30 mins)

Trailered Animal: $50 per animal (+30 mins)

Large Collection of personal items: $50 (+30 mins)

When will I receive my formal and casual proofs from my senior portrait session?

Proofs will be mailed to the primary address listed on Skyward for students and should arrive 2-4 weeks after your senior portrait session.

When is the deadline for having my portraits made and yearbook portraits selected?

The deadline for having portraits made and selecting yearbook formals and casuals with Loveless is Oct. 4, 2024.

How do I select my formal and casual portraits for the yearbook?

After your senior portrait session with Loveless Fine Photography, Loveless will reach out to schedule a time where you can come in to select the casual and formal portraits for the yearbook.

Can I bring family and friends to my session?

Yes! However, please make sure that you carpool together when traveling to the studio since there is limited parking space.

No family or friends need to be in your formal or casual for the school yearbook, but you may wish to take some pictures with them as a part of your session. Please inform Loveless that you wish to take group photos at your session when booking an appointment. Please also note that this may incur an additional fee.

Can I use a casual portrait not made by Loveless for my casual in the yearbook?

Only photography from Loveless Fine Photography may be used for the senior portraits in the senior section of the "People" yearbook pages.

However, any portraits, whether professionally taken or not, can be included in a senior ad (formally known as a senior salute). Senior ads may be purchased following the directions on this form.

When do I take my Cap & Gown photos and when do I receive those proofs?

Loveless Fine Photography will take these photos at MJHS on Feb. 20, 2025. This later date allows you to appear in your Cap & Gown photos as you will since these photo sessions will occur closer to graduation. These may be ordered and used for all graduation invitations.

Proofs will be mailed to the primary address listed on Skyward for students and should arrive 2-4 weeks after your Cap & Gown session.

If you miss this date, you will have to contact Loveless to schedule an in-studio appointment at 615-890-1558 and pay a sitting fee.

How do I get my senior ID?

Seniors will get their pictures made for their senior IDs on the days that the underclassmen get their photos taken at MJHS.

Seniors will report during designated times and let the photographers know that their photo is for senior IDs.

These IDs are mailed to the school, and the yearbook staff will distribute them to all students.

Where do I submit my senior name, quote, signature, and achievements?

Please fill out this Google Form to verify your name and senior quote or accomplishment. You may only view the form if you are signed in with your wilsonk12tn.us account. This is due before 3:45 p.m. Oct. 4, 2024.
